This one isn’t as straightforward as the previous post, but I will explain the implications of his team option. Because technically, he may not even be up for grabs this offseason. The Team Option

Before the Hornets can even entertain the idea of acquiring Ellis this offseason, the Kings have a decision to make. By June 29, Sacramento will either pick up or decline the team option that will pay Ellis $2.3 million. Why wouldn’t the Kings pay a guy who’s been productive on an extremely team-friendly contract? It’s not that simple, and this is where things could get interesting.
